Harbor Park Passenger Rail Station Design Approved

In addition to the Waterside items at this past Tuesday's City Council meeting, there was a discussion on the re-design of the Passenger Rail Station to be built next to Harbor Park.

A few weeks ago, Norfolk City Council asked the developers to go back to the drawing board and bring something back that was iconic to Norfolk, while also letting incoming visitor's clearly distinguish that they were arriving in Norfolk.  The City Council also asked for more windows so that those waiting in the station would be able to see the trains arriving and departing.  To take a look at the design photos, just click here.

The Passenger rail service is slated to begin in December of this year offering trips as far north as Boston.  However, the station won't be finished until the summer of 2013.  A temporary kiosk will most likely be erected in the meantime.
