This past weekend, the Pilot ran an article detailing everything that went into transforming the historical A.A. Adams Building to the soon-to-be-opened-this-summer Urban Outfitters on Granby St. in downtown Norfolk. Pretty tight seeing the photos and reading the story behind the renovation.
The store will be the first one in Hampton Roads and according to the Pilot is "a palace of industrial, antique and avant-garde fixtures." That's a fair assessment. The hope is that this store will spawn future retail development throughout Granby St.
The A.A. Adams Building was constructed in 1910 as part of the block-long Fentress Building, and has been home to the Singer Sewing shop, variety store and up until recently, a popular nightclub Time Lounge.

This is going to be one of the best setups in DT.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, it brings some more retail down there so people have more to do during the day (and weekends). Downtown is a ghost town on weekends.
