New Five-Story Building Coming Downtown?

The upcoming December 10th Norfolk Design Review Committee Meeting has a peculiar item listed on its agenda, which appears the be the construction of a new mixed-use building at the corner of Granby St. and Freemason St.

Building would sit on right side of Granby where the green awnings are.

According to the application (which includes conceptual drawings), a new five-story building would be built containing 65 luxury apartments.  The ground level would include a club house, leasing office, a courtyard, and over 2500 square feet of retail space.

Currently, the space holds a row of commercial space, which is mostly vacant.  This should be a decent addition to downtown Norfolk as it combines street-level retail with apartments above.  It also adds some pretty good density.  Stay tuned for more details.

  1. Good find...
Wonder what the end result will be considering its a club sitting across from the street. If the City knows better, they will let this one fly and do it quickly.
