Though plans for the facility have been widely publicized already, there has been little information released when it comes to the specifics of what kind of entertainment would be showcased. The idea would be to create a "living room for downtown Norfolk and the region" by transforming the middle of Waterside into a common space with a view of the Elizabeth River. This would be the gathering area for free entertainment (hired by The Cordish Cos.) featuring regional bands, speakers, art shows, or family fun days on any given day or night.
The idea of an art show particularly stands out. If anyone has been to Virginia Beach's Boardwalk Art Show, it's a yearly success that brings scores of people and business to the oceanfront. If Norfolk tried something similar from Town Point Park along the Elizabeth River up to the Bank of Hampton Roads Tower with Waterside as its anchor, it would probably be just as successful.
