Norfolk's Amtrak Station Construction Begins

Recently, construction on Norfolk's Amtrak Station commenced at Harbor Park. It looks like workers are getting the utility work in place and starting to build the foundation.  While there's not much to see yet, I was able to get over there to take some photos.

Some details of the project:

• 3,500 square foot station.
• The building will include ticket counter, a waiting room and bathrooms.
• The platform will be 725 feet long and partially covered with canopies.
• The station, just near Harbor Park, will be looked at as a potential multi-modal station in the future to include rail, light rail, bus, cab, and ferry services.
•  Project cost - $3,000,000.
• Completion Date – Fall 2013.
