This week, Norfolk Live! will shine the spotlight on some of the local businesses that will be featured during this week’s Better Block in the proposed Norfolk Arts District. Today, we feature With Lavender and Lace, owned by Kelsie McNair.
KM: With Lavender and Lace is a local boutique specializing in vintage fashions, vinyl, and handmade goods. We try to encourage a creative lifestyle by creating dialog among the interested folk in our community.
How did you get into this business?
KM: I opened the shop in November 2011 after moving back to VA from Boston. It was a big chance I took in an attempt to help pay off heavy student loans and use some of my art degrees to help me support myself and my community.
What do you specialize in?
KM: We are a vintage inspired second hand boutique. Most of our clientele are women but we do have an excellent men's section and a great selection of new and use vinyl records.
Do you have a store? Can customers buy your products/services online?
KM: We do have a store! 617 Colonial Ave. Norfolk VA! if you're outside of our area, visit us at Withlavenderandlace.com. We hope to have the online shop running mid-May 2013. Also, the shop and I are on just about a dozen social networking sites. If you're feeling spunky, follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr @withlavandlace. You can also message the shop directly via our website or shoot us an email.
What are you looking to get out of Better Block?
KM: I’m hoping that Better Block opens everybody's eyes to what an awesome and colorful area Norfolk could be if we let it. With Lavender and Lace is really happy to be helping out!
