Harvey Lindsay Not Going Away Quietly

A couple of weeks ago, The Pilot reported that Harvey Lindsay was still lobbying City Council despite City Manager Marcus Jones' recommendation for its competitor, The Cordish Cos., to take on the Waterside project.  Now Inside Business runs a story about how HL is continuing to plot out their plan to pull in the project.
HL decided to strip out the "The Levels" walkway, plans to alter the Selden Arcade and the Ferris Wheel. The rebuffed HL proposal for Waterside would take at least two years to complete and includes:
  • A new 60,000-square-foot conference center with a ballroom and an exhibit hall large enough to hold boat shows.
  • A four-star hotel with 300 rooms, each with a view of the harbor.
  • A 28-story office tower whose major tenants would be Clark Nexsen and TowneBank, occupying 85 percent of the building.  This might be the most crucial part of the plan as it would bring almost 1,500 new jobs downtown and generate $3.5M/year in new tax revenue.
According to William Hudgins, president of Harvey Lindsay Development Group, "This is a straightforward project with a clean return on investment."
