Virginia Zoo Still Needs Money To Start Animal Hospital

Last week, The Pilot reported that the Virginia Zoo is still trying to raise the funds needed to break ground on a new 8,000-square-foot veterinary hospital and a 3,000-square-foot nutrition center.

Construction began last June but the zoo must still raise $400,000 for completion next year.  The project evolved out of the need for a facility large enough to accommodate the growing number of animals added from last year's "Asia - Trail of the Tiger" exhibit and to maintain accreditation with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
